when god closes a door, he opens a window...

i just had to share this page from rachel's blog...it's so very true...when god closes a door, he opens a window...
rachel ashwell was my very first inspiration for the white shabby-d vintage furniture, the lovely fabrics with the gorgeous florals...the rugs...i still remember an outing my husband took me on...a trip to rachel's santa monica and malibu shabby chic stores...i think it was november or december...about eight years ago...i was in heaven and he even bought me my first ever rachel ashwell duvet cover which i still have on my bed...i've cherished that thing...i just bought a linen one to use as well...they are fabulous!

i just learned from a very dear friend that she is closing all her stores...that's so very sad...she has fabulous things and she will definately be missed. her stores take my breath away...i walk in and just "awwwwwwww". it's such a treat to spend time looking in her stores and feeling all the fabrics...i will definately have to stop by the newport store here soon and take a last look...

a special surprise from country roads this weekend...

once again, sue is showing great gratitude for the all of you dedicated customers at country roads...take a peek at her message...

"SURPRISE!! How does Country Roads “really” thank our customers? Do we bake them a cake? Nope, we give them what we think you are going to want which is this!! This week-end, on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of March, if you bring in this e-mail, guess what? We are going to pay your sales tax on your purchase! That’s right. . . been looking at a great piece of furniture, but didn’t think you could afford it? Think about that one again, okay, because we are picking up the sales tax as our way of saying, “thank you” for all your positive support, comments on our e-mails, and just being really good customers. It means a great deal to us. All you have to do is first, just SHOP!!! When you are ready to check out, we will pay your tax so you will be saving some cash. You HAVE to have this e-mail with you! If you don’t have a printer, then I believe you can e-mail this to Kinko’s and they can print it for you. We are open daily from 10am to 5pm. So, don’t walk but run to enjoy a little shopping spree at Country Roads. In case for some reason you need the address, we are located at 204 W. Chapman, Old Towne Orange and our phone number is 714.532.3041! Again, THANK YOU for being such wonderful customers! Take care, Sue and my Country Roads Family"

urban registers...

i've been getting alot of comments on my website lately, inquiring about the fabulous registers my husband and i sell...the company "urban registers" belongs to my sister-n-law and we would just love the product! we have them in every room of our home and i just don't think enough people know about them...
my brother-n-law created the design while sitting at his drafting table at home...each of the patterns is hand crafted and are cut and shaped to achieve a non-machined, non-stamped look, resulting in spectacular grills that look and feel hand made. They are made out of solid cast aluminum and each grill has a recess on the back side to allow for flatter instation and years of great use...
they can be used on the floor, wall and/or ceiling...even outside!
all grills are shipped unpainted and available with or without screw holes.
they go great in any style home!
i've only shown you a few of the pictures that i have...they come in a multitude of shapes and sizes...large, small, square, round, rectangle...they even have some custom sizes available...we would love to hear from you...if you would like to receive additional information, please contact me directly...we also have a brochure and price list that i can mail to you if you wish.

a special message from sue at country roads...

i just wanted to share this special message from sue at country roads...we both have a special love for grandparents...enjoy...
"Happy Spring to Our Favorite Customers!! I was gardening this morning, and although it was a bit chilly, it reminded me that Spring will be here before we know it. I love Spring, a time for new beginnings as little seeds, bulbs and plants break their way through the soil, pop up and surprise us with their brilliant colors! It's a nice time to start gardening with the little ones too. I know me and my buddy, Riley (my granddaughter) will be planting our sunflower seeds anyday now! You know, everyone of us that is involved in Country Roads one way or another, LOVE Country Roads! We've worked hard to create a "feel good" shopping environment for you guys, and create displays that are fun and give you ideas for your own homes as well. I may be just a bit prejudiced, but I think we also have some of the most affordable prices than most! I put together a little slideshow for you (the link is below). It is about "Johnnye Merle Gardens & Nursery". Lots of pictures for you to enjoy, some nice music, and a little story about my mom, Johnnye Merle. And for those of you that wonder how we are doing these days with the craziness of our world: well, we're staying busy and postive and me, "I'm busy watching my garden grow"! No time for the negative when you've got beautiful flowers blooming!! I look forward to seeing you soon, and hope you enjoy the pictures of our gardens!
Take care, Sue and My Country Roads Family"

my baby's birthday!

i'm off a couple of days, but my baby just turned 14! yikes!!!
he goes to high school next year and although i'm excited to see what he does with his life, i'm scared and concerned...as any mother would be. i've already had one of my precious children finish high school and college and now the other is on his way...
other than the 8th grade attitude and TEMPORARY fall in grades, he is a joy to my heart...i love him very much and only wish god's blessings in his life forever...
i love you shannan...happy birthday!
